Date: 1764-1784
Janet Ferguson, niece of John McFarlane, late schoolmaster at Callander;
#3 (1),(2),(3),(1)&(2) deal with a dispute between Janet Ferguson niece and general dispone of the deceased Mr. John Macfarlane, late schoolmaster at Callander and Donald Mcfarlane her husband v. Robert McNab, assistant teacher to John Macfarlane regarding claims to the arrears of salary owing John Macfarlane at the time of his death. Verdict was in favour of Janet Ferguson and her husband.
John Macfarlane died 25th January 1764 (could be 1761).
Excerpt from a petition dated 18 November 1769 of John McLaren, schoolmaster in Callander, for an increase in salary.
"That as the Parish is very extensive about 80 scholars commonly attend the school, … the school fees [are] exceedingly small, being only one shilling a quarter for English, 1/6 for arithmetic, 1/8 for Latin."
